Hi, I’m Colleen Courtney.

I’m an Executive Creative Producer and I work with artists of all kinds to create meaningful content and experiences. My creative, strategic and operational background includes growing and directing creative teams and overseeing creative production directly with clients. I’ve supervised creative teams and managed creative for house accounts across multiple major creative agencies, production studios, startups, and design shops. I’ve built a deep and wide bench of world-class collaborators across diverse operational, creative and strategic disciplines. I like to make interesting things with smart, nice people — and establish brand partnerships, where everyone wins.

Atlas Obscura, publisher of the definitive guide to the world’s hidden wonders, is a travel and media company defined by storytelling. It was founded in 2009 by Dylan Thuras and Joshua Foer with a mission to inspire wonder and curiosity about the world. Our editorial team reports on hidden places, incredible histories, scientific marvels, and gastronomical wonders. I’ve joined the Obscura Studio team to produce stories of all kinds with dream clients, representing local culture all over the world.

SLiC is a digital platform, a production company and a content studio that puts publishers and creators first. SLiC exists to offer creators and brands the opportunity to freely create, own, distribute and monetize their content. Founder Baron Davis is a two-time NBA All-Star turned serial entrepreneur, investor, producer, actor, content creator and a culture catalyst. I joined his team to build SLiC into an ecosystem that empowers creators, gives fans access, and engages the community through authentic stories that put culture first.

Superset Startup Studio founds and funds data-driven companies. I was the Head of Content and Creative for several years, helped establish the first group of the portfolio companies and opened the offices in San Francisco and New York City. I specialized in managing teams that produced content and researched and designed products that focused on collaboration, fan engagement, personalization, and monetization for Creators.

Brand Experience Agencies

Over the course of a decade, I provided creative leadership in a variety of ways for some of the world’s top brands to include the Home Depot, T-Mobile, the San Francisco Giants, the Golden State Warriors, the City of San Francisco, Coca-Cola, Major Leauge Baseball, Oracle, America’s Cup, Yahoo, Bank of America, Google Adobe, Microsoft and more. This is where I learned to pitch work, how to create sponsorships, built relationships with amazing art schools, what Pantone colors are, how to build creative culture and why it matters how every single layer of a brand is created. It’s where I learned that strategy, production, and creative have to work together to create a good brand experience and that without each other, we fail.

Jazz Mafia

jazzmafia.com

In the year 2000, trombonist, bassist, composer, arranger and producer Adam Theis co-founded Jazz Mafia – an eclectic artist collective of forward-thinking and accomplished players in Electro, Hip-Hop, World, Classical, and Jazz. Twenty years in the making, Jazz Mafia is a prolific staple of the quintessential San Francisco sound, uniting creative and accomplished Bay Area instrumentalists, vocalists, MCs, composers, and arrangers.

The collective quickly garnered a reputation for its collaborative and risk-taking spirit, and over the years has worked with Roy Ayers, Lyrics Born, Zion-I, Rebelution, Latyrx, Galactic, Ledesi, Blackalicious, and Jackie Greene, to name a few.

After meeting Adam through my time singing for SF Jazz, I had the honor of rebranding, performing with and managing Jazz Mafia for a couple of years and still consider them my inspiration, creative tribe and family of collaborators.
